Whether or not we know it, all of us cookie people have style. Style is what differentiates us from one another. It’s not what makes us better or worse, but unique, in a recognizeable way. How often have you looked at a single cookie and thought ‘that looks like a so-and-so cookie’? And, nine times out of ten, you’re probably right. Is it the image depicted in the cookie? Is it hand-painted or flooded and over-piped? If there’s a face, are the eyes adorably cartoony? Has it been effortlessly airbrushed to add a bit of dimension?
Lisa Snyder, aka The Bearfoot Baker, is just such a cookie artist. I’m not sure how long I’ve been fangirling following her blog, but it’s been quite a while. I always loved her work, but I really fell hard when she first posted the most precious school of jellyfish you could ever see. A prolific poster, Lisa has patiently, methodically and thoroughly instructed me her readers on the fine art of airbrushing cookies to up the adorable ante. While Lisa has a propensity for animals, I never put two and two together to even imagine she was writing a book about her adorable creatures, but she did.
“100 Animal Cookies” is Lisa’s fabulous book. It’s focused, it’s detailed, it’s for every cookiers of every level. I love that it’s divided into animal sections like “Safari”, “Woodland” and “Garden”, to name but a few. In other words, free up some space on your cookbook shelf, and designate it for this book. If you’re like me, you’ll use it time and again, not only for the adorable design ideas, but for the inspiration to try something different! And, nobody does cute animals the way Lisa does.

I don’t want to give too much away about the book, because [drumroll] I’M GIVING AWAY THE BOOK! Lisa and her publisher have generously allowed me (I didn’t give Lisa much choice, I’m afraid) to give away a copy of her book to one lucky person, plucked randomly from comments left here.
